What is each part of the plan intended to correct: fat, loose skin, muscle separation or contour?

A written plan should name the problem being treated rather than rely on a body-contouring label. Liposuction removes fat but does not reliably correct loose skin. Heat-based tightening such as J-Plasma/Renuvion has its own heat-injury risks and is not a substitute for the skin removal of tummy tuck, arm lift or thigh lift. How will fluid balance, blood loss and operative time be kept within a safe plan?

Ask how planned suction volume, fluid replacement, lidocaine dose, anaesthetic time and your own risk factors are being managed. More than five litres is commonly treated as a trigger for additional planning and monitoring, not as a universal safe ceiling or a target. How are seroma, wound opening and skin loss recognised and treated?

ASPS includes fluid collections, impaired wound healing and heat injury among liposuction risks. A seroma can feel like a wave beneath an incision: a small collection may be reabsorbed, while one that persists may need aspiration; if infection develops or the collection threatens the skin, drainage may be needed. A separating wound or blackening skin can signal tension, smoking, infection or impaired circulation and should not be treated by closing it at home under a dressing. The plan should state the use of drains, compression and review date. Fever, unpleasant smell, a wound opening or rapidly increasing swelling should be reported without delay. After I return home, who follows a wound problem or suspected clot, and who pays for extra treatment?

Before overseas cosmetic surgery, the NHS recommends agreeing where reviews happen and what further surgery and return travel could cost; travel insurance commonly excludes surgical complications. It uses 5–7 days after liposuction or breast surgery and 7–10 days after tummy tuck as travel-planning windows, while individual clearance belongs to the surgeon. Before eyelid surgery, how will dry eye and complete eyelid closure be assessed?

For lower-lid surgery, AAO EyeWiki calls for documenting dry-eye symptoms, drops, contact lenses, tear film, blinking, Bell’s phenomenon, lower-lid laxity, existing incomplete closure and forward prominence of the eye over the cheek. Uncontrolled dry eye is a reason to defer surgery; ASPS notes that a Schirmer test may be appropriate with a dry-eye history. Severe dry eye, absent Bell’s phenomenon or inability to close the lid may contraindicate blepharoplasty. Failed snap-back with more than 6 mm distraction increases ectropion risk and can require canthopexy or canthoplasty. Excess skin or orbicularis removal can prevent closure and worsen dryness. Urgent symptoms vary by procedure. After face, neck, brow or temple lift, rapidly enlarging one-sided swelling, pain, breathlessness or new facial weakness require review. After eyelid surgery, inability to close the lid, severe pain, a pushed-forward eye or reduced vision needs urgent assessment; after facial fat injection, sudden visual loss is an emergency.
